Newport has so much to offer!! I am still compiling more information to create a blog post to help you explore this area but until then… One of my favorite things to do here is go fishing off the jetty and crabbing off the pier. There is so much wildlife found at the coast to interact with I hope you have a chance to go and explore this place.
Hug Point got its name because back in the day it was actually used as a road to travel and you needed to hug the point in order to get to the other side at low tide. Here is an article that shares some of the details: Click Here!
This place is my favorite place to explore with the many caves, a waterfall, and the tide pools with different colored sea anemones and star fish. The best tip I can give is to make sure you go when the tide is a negative number. The lower the tide the better. ALSO be aware of the tide so you can get back safely.
If you like cheese and ice cream then this is a great place to explore. You can learn how Tillamook makes your delicious favorites. My favorite part was sampling the cheese curds and discovering smoked cheese. It was ono! aka delicious in hawaiian. Which is your favorite cheese?!
